Turkmenistan State Flag Day is a national holiday celebrated annually on May 18. This day is dedicated to the affirmation of the country's state flag and the adopted Constitution, symbolizing the independence and sovereignty of Turkmenistan.

History of the holiday
Originally, State Flag Day was celebrated on February 19, the day the flag was officially adopted in 1992. However, in October 2017, it was decided to combine it with Constitution Day and move it to May 18, starting in 2018. On this day, solemn events are held in Ashgabat, including laying flowers at the Monument of the Constitution and raising the flag on the 133-meter flagpole.

Symbolism of the flag
The flag of Turkmenistan consists of a green field with a vertical red stripe, on which five traditional Turkmen carpet patterns are depicted, symbolizing the five main tribes. In the upper left corner, there is a white crescent and five white stars, representing the five regions of the country. At the bottom of the red stripe, there are two crossed olive branches, symbolizing the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.

Holiday events
On State Flag Day, various events are held, including:

* A ceremony of laying flowers at the Monument of the Constitution in Ashgabat.

* Raising the state flag on the main square of the country.

* Festive concerts and theatrical performances throughout the country.

This day serves as a reminder of the significance of national symbols and the unity of the people of Turkmenistan.
